Message Dry chemical powder extinguishers(sodium bicarbonate, Amoneum phosfate) are really bad for cars/electronics. the powder is highly corrosive to rubber, gaskets, plastic, scilicone, basically everything but metal. and the powder only puts out fires that it can settle on. AND if you use the powder extinguisher once, you gotta get it recharged. what if there is a fire near the bottom of the engine, you use the dry chem to put it out but there is electronics and tubes in the way , ur engine is screwed.and the chemical only lasts 1-6 years.

I use halon. it is a non toxic non corrosive liquified vaporizing gas. it is multi shot so you can use it many times without needing to recharge it. since its a gas it will go around objects to put out fire instead of whats directly ahead of it. the one i have is in a lifetime cylinder. and the halon chemical lasts 20 years. I highly recommend halon. It is a little more expensive than dry chemical but its worth it.

Its kinda hard to find, I have a few extra 2.5 lb halon extinguishers if anyones interested. My uncle bought em for 65.00 each ill sell em for 50.00 each. email me gizzabonda@hotmail.com
